On 11th July 2025, MetaFin Sdn Bhd had the pleasure of engaging with students from INTI International College’s School of Business and Communication in an interactive industry sharing session.

The talk was delivered by Mr Chuah Yi Zhe, Senior Digital Marketing Manager at MetaFin, who presented a forward-looking topic: “How Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Emergence of Agentic AI are Reshaping Malaysia’s Fintech Landscape.”

Exploring the Power of AI in Fintech

Mr Chuah began by unpacking how AI is already transforming the financial technology space in Malaysia—from streamlining operations to delivering highly personalised digital experiences. However, the real spotlight was on Agentic AI, an emerging form of AI capable of autonomous decision-making and goal execution.

He explained how these intelligent systems are enabling fintech platforms to act more independently, learning and adapting without constant human input. This evolution is allowing businesses to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and deliver more innovative services to consumers.

To illustrate this in action, Mr Chuah shared a real-life example from MetaFin’s own portfolio—its Car Insurance product, which incorporates Agentic AI technology to enhance customer experience. The system is capable of autonomously generating real-time price comparisons across multiple car insurance providers, while simultaneously delivering tailored policy recommendations based on each user’s driving profile, vehicle data, and coverage needs.

This practical showcase demonstrated how Agentic AI is not just theoretical, but actively driving transformation at the intersection of FinTech and InsurTech. By integrating intelligent automation into insurance services, MetaFin is helping to create a faster, smarter, and more customer-centric ecosystem through its digital platform.

Addressing the Regulatory and Ethical Landscape

Beyond the tech, the session also addressed critical ethical and regulatory concerns surrounding AI in finance. With increasing reliance on data-driven systems, Mr Chuah emphasised the importance of compliance with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and other relevant regulatory frameworks.

He encouraged students to think not only about what AI can do—but also about what it should do, particularly in a sector where trust, security, and transparency are paramount.

Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Industry

The session was particularly beneficial for students currently undertaking employer-based projects or exploring career paths in FinTech, InsurTech, or digital innovation. It offered valuable insights into how academic concepts are applied in real-world industry settings, and how students can prepare to contribute to the future of finance.
